Looking for a unique church experience where everyone is welcomed? House for All Sinners and Saints welcomes people from all walks of life, and is a spiritual place for you to worship at and find meaningful connection while sharing in the love that is the community of God. We are a Lutheran Church in our roots, but we are progressive and celebrate the faiths of all people.
At the House for All Sinners and Saints, we are a group of people figuring out how to be a liturgical, Christ centered, social justice oriented, queer inclusive, incarnational, contemplative, irreverent, and ancient but futuristic church with an imagination that is both progressive and deeply rooted in the theology of the church. We believe the House for All Sinners and Saints is a necessary entity because we experiment with new ways of having church that are more realistic to urban, postmodern folks. The Gospel matters, but liturgy now exists in a different context where we are able to reclaim the word "Christian". We are able to question and contemplate the scripture while still honoring it, and we as Christians no longer have to mute or compartmentalize parts of ourselves in order to be accepted into the Christian community. The House for All Sinners and Saints provides a bridge to the traditions of the church that allows and encourages people to be who they are and be a part of the liturgy, rather than being passive participants.
HFASS is a melting pot type of church, where our members are diverse in their lives and their beliefs. We do not often talk about what "we ALL believe". What people believe and what they do is none of our business. What we care about is what people HEAR. What you will hear in our services is unrelenting confession of grace for ourselves and for our enemies. Good news is what we preach, and is at the heart of what we mean when we say "Lutheran".
We are a congregation of about 500, with 100-200 showing up to services most Sundays. Our motto for our services is "anti-excellence and pro-participation", which means that our liturgy is led by the people who show up that day. Our pastor offers the prayer and the usually the sermon, and from there, our service is led by the people of our congregation from where they sit. Even the singing is led by the community! We are a diverse group; we have married couples, young families, Baby Boomers, and some older folks as well. Most of us are single people between the ages of 22 and 42. Our congregation identifies with a variety of different religions and spiritualities, or no religious affiliation at all. We are vibrant and compassionate, and we welcome all members of the LGBTQ community and others to join us. Please visit our website or reach out to us for more information on who we are. We would love to meet you!
